Class Action Lawsuit Again Zynga for Privacy Leaks has Begun

Yesterday I reported that the top ten Facebook applications were leaking Facebook users profile IDs to some third party advertisers. Almost as fast as you can snap your fingers Zynga, who had six of those top ten apps, are being sued for this privacy leak.

A woman from St. Paul Minnesota, whose name won’t be released as I don’t want to be sued too, is looking for “monetary relief from those whose data was wrongly shared, and injunctive relief to prevent continued privacy abuse.”

The amount of money this woman is seeking is still unknown; of course since this class action lawsuit includes 218 million Facebook users the damages are likely to be astronomical. Even if someone’s privacy was only worth $1 that would still mean Zynga would have to pay $218 million or more, an amount of money I would think could bankrupt this social game giant.
